DEHLI 6

Synopsis:
Roshan travels from USA to India with his ailing grandmother. Little does he know that this quick trip will turn into the longest journey of his life...A Journey within!
Roshan’s dadi ma wants to retire and spend the last leg of her life back home, dissolving into the soil she was born in.
In America, having led a very western lifestyle, Roshan is not familiar with the sites and smells, the food and culture, the religion and beliefs of this huge melting pot that India is.
Roshan thought that his Dadi had left her family and loved ones back in America, only to realize that how wrong he was.
The warmth and affection of the neighborhood embraces him with open arms.
Amidst all this, he meets the beautiful Bittu, who is looking for identity and expression and wants to break free from the typical Indian social structure.
It is to this beautiful girl Roshan is destined to lose his heart.
‘Delhi 6’ is based on the childhood memories of director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. In his director’s note, he says: “For me it’s much more than a movie. I have dipped the pen in the ink of my childhood memories, and setting them against today’s contemporary India, have tried to weave a story.
The story is told against the backdrop of the ancient walled city of Delhi. The pin code of this old city is 110006. With pride and love it is called ‘Delhi-6’.
The movie, however, is not shot in Chandni Chowk. An elaborate set recreating the walled city was erected at Sambhar on the outskirts of Jaipur in Rajasthan. Most of the film is shot there. Only a few portions were shot in Delhi.
‘Delhi 6’ has music by A R Rahman , Rajat Dholakia and lyrics by Prasoon Joshi , Vivinenne Pocha and Claire.
The story of Delhi 6 is written by Rakeysh Mehra and Kamlesh Pandey. The costumes are by Arjun Bhasin and choreography is by Saroj Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant.
